Whitney Academy - Summer 2025
An enrichment program in which all classes and camps do not earn credit, but provide valuable preparation.
The Whitney Academy offers a high-quality educational program that works best for students who want to enrich and develop their talents, skills, and interests.
All Classes and Camps meet on Weekdays.
Each class has two sessions that cover different materials, while Session I is not a requirement of Session II.
Camps have fewer days of attendance, while each has its own schedule.

- English I, Period 1 (Room 14) - Foundational (Grades: current 6th to 7th)
Critical reading and writing skills, to enhance language building
Reflect and analyze different texts, then learn and practice how to write different type of academic papers.
Session I: Focuses on nonfiction

-English II, Period 2 (Room 14) - Accelerated (Grades: current 7th to 8th)
Critical reading and writing skills, to advance language building
Practice Literary analysis of various texts, then apply those skills to your own writing.

– Math 7, Period 2 (Room 10) - (Grades: current 6th)
Algebraic properties, characteristics of geometric figures
Session I: Learn integers and absolute value, expressions, algebraic equations and inequalities, rational and irrational numbers.
Session II: Learn angles relationship, areas and volumes, circumference and area of a circle, the coordinates plane, distance formula and perimeter.
– Math 8, Period 1 (Room 10) - (Grades: current 7th)
Linear equations and function, geometric transformations and the Pythagorean Theorem
Session I: Solve linear equations, solve a system of two linear equations, identify linear and nonlinear functions.
Session II: Verify experimentally the properties of transformations, and understand congruence vs. similarity. Learn the Pythagorean Theorem.
– Math I, Period 1 (Room 7) - (Grades: current 7th with Accelerated Math 7, or current 8th)
Function Representation vs. sequences, some geometric principles
Session I: Compare arithmetic sequence and linear function, geometric sequences and exponential function, absolute-value equations and functions.
Session II: Learn postulates vs. theorems, congruence of triangles, angles of parallel lines and transversal, constructions.
– Math II, Period 3 (Room 17) - (Grades: current 8th with Accelerated Math 8, or current 9th)
Polynomial and other functions, geometric proofs and constructions.
Session I: Learn quadratic Functions including complex numbers, Polynomials Functions, Exponential Functions, and some applications.
Session II: Perform various formal proofs, and few advanced constructions such as incenter and circumcenter of a triangle.
– Programming I, Period 3 (Room 16) - Scratch & Python (Grades: current 6th to 8th)
Intro to creating computer algorithms, and coding mindset
Session I: Learn basic computing literacy and functionality with the MIT-developed Scratch computing language, a block-based online platform.
Session II: Move to Python, a text-based programming language, starting with Turtle as an easy-to-use graphical environment for Python.
– Programming II, Period 4 (Room 16) - Python & JavaScript (Grades: current 6th to 8th)
Programming, and developing programmer’s mindset
(Recommended that students have had some exposure to programming)
Session I: Write programs using Python, a powerful text-based language, developing the attention to detail needed to avoid common errors.
Session II: Learn how the internet runs with HTML, CSS, and the JavaScript programming language.
– Computer Science Skills, Period 2 - (recommended for current 8th or curent 9th graders)
Explore the AP Computer Science curriculum
Session I: Learn selected mathematical foundations from AP Computer Science Principles, including discrete math, data representation, and programming.
Session II: Learn selected programming methodologies from AP Computer Science A, including object oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms.
– Study Skills Mastery, Period 3 (Room 12) - (Grades: current 5th to 9th)
Learn how to work smarter, not harder, and earn higher grades
Session I: Learn note taking, best studying techniques, and much more.
Session II: Gain time management, and all the necessary tools to reach your highest academic potential.
– Fun and Friendly Public Speaking/Debate, Period 4 (Room 12) - (Grades: current 5th to 9th)
Develop the highest-paid skill: Public Speaking
Get coached on words, vocal variety, body language, and improvisation.
Session I: Learn various kinds of speeches including informative, persuasive, demonstration, and extemporaneous.
Session II: Practice Mock Interviews, Speech and Debate, as well as Sales Pitches-Shark Tank.
Camps:
– Fine Arts Camp (Room 6) - (Grades: current 5th to 8th)
Create & Explore Art Journey - Campers will unleash their creativity through 2D and 3D art. No experience needed–Just a passion for creating!
Through engaging projects, youngsters will explore composition, color, texture, and form while building confidence in their artistic abilities. Whether they love sketching, constructing, or getting messy with paint, this class encourages self-expression and creative thinking.
– Leadership Camp (Room 8) - (Grades: current 5th to 7th)
Campers will engage in a fun and enriching experience designed to develop their potential as leaders.
During this 9 day camp, rising 6-8th graders will be empowered to take initiative, collaborate effectively, and inspire others. They’ll gain valuable skills that will benefit them not just as leaders, but in all aspects of their lives.
Tuition:
All classes – $450 per class (Session I – $225, Session II – $225)
Leadership Camp – $350
Fine Arts Camp – $350
Refund Policy:
Whitney Academy will refund 100% of payments for the enrollments that were cancelled before 1 week prior to class start, after applying $20 cancellation fee. Partial cancellation of enrollments will be processed as full cancellation of the package, then enrollment in a different package using most up-to-date prices.
Within 1 week of class start, cancellations not initiated by Whitney Academy will not be refunded. Exceptional circumstances would be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and and refunds will be made at sole discretion of Whitney Academy.
If any cancellations of enrollments are initiated by Whitney Academy, full refund will be made and the cancellation fee will be waived.

Leadership Camp details:
During this 9 day summer academy leadership camp, rising 6-8th grade students will engage in a fun and enriching experience designed to develop their potential as leaders. Here are some key areas of focus:
